President’s Message July/August 2025
It’s time to celebrate, as the Fourth of July has arrived! Let’s express our gratitude for this great nation’s Independence Day and honor the men and women who sacrificed their lives for the freedoms we sometimes take for granted. We are also thankful to live in this wonderful country. I’m excited for the upcoming Fourth of July festivities! Check your local listings for any fireworks shows in Marana and Tucson, and please stay safe!
Additionally, please take care of your pets during the fireworks celebrations. If you find a lost pet, contact Marana Animal Control.
With the record heat we’ve been experiencing, it’s nice to see the swimming pools being utilized. Many kids are enjoying the pool now that school is out. Please remember to obey the pool rules. Last year, we had to close the pool several times due to human contamination. It should go without saying, but please do your part to prevent this from happening so that other community members can enjoy these amenities (refer to pool rule #12). The emergency pool service needed to sanitize the pool is an additional cost to the Association and requires a closure of 36 to 48 hours. We’ve started this season off well; let’s keep it that way!
We would like to report recent vandalism at the Windmill Park activity field, including damage to the grounds and a metal trash can that was run over. Acts like these not only detract from the beauty and safety of our shared spaces but also result in unnecessary expenses for the Association to repair and replace damaged property. We urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward and report it. Maintaining our community is a shared responsibility, and we appreciate your help in keeping it safe and enjoyable for everyone.
I would like to thank the Mayor, Vice Mayor, and their team for joining us at the community center to answer questions from our residents. We had a good turnout and productive meeting, allowing residents to inquire about plans for Marana.
In a recent discussion, a resident raised concerns about the state of plant vegetation in Continental Ranch. They noted that we are not replacing diseased or dying plants with the same species. Our landscape committee follows established guidelines and town requirements when it comes to replacing vegetation. Please rest assured that both the Board and community members have your best interests in mind.
We are saddened to share that Sandy Padilla passed away in April 2025. She is survived by her husband, Tony, as well as her children and grandchildren. Sandy was a longtime member of the Senior Citizens and Retirees of Continental Ranch (SCRCR) for over 20 years. During her time with SCRCR, she served as the coordinator for the Activities and Sunshine committees and acted as the SCRCR Hostess. Her attention to detail was commendable. Whether it involved storing SCRCR medical equipment, transporting members to appointments, or providing the “Thought of the Day,” Sandy was a highly valued member of SCRCR. Her congeniality and kind-hearted nature were unmatched.
As a final reminder, when walking your pets, please be considerate of others by cleaning up after them. Some neighbors continue to leave pet droppings on the sidewalks, which is unpleasant for everyone. Let’s all contribute to keeping our yards and sidewalks clean and safe.
